                                                                  Chancay Castle
Chancay is a small town in the Lima region of Peru. Its population is 26,958. Columbian Chancay culture archaeological culture was later part of the Inca Empire.
Chancay main activity these days is as a tourist destination in the vicinity of Lima. The main attraction is the Castle, a castle false, recently repaired, but built in the nineteenth century. There is a small museum in the castle showing Chancay pottery and mummies


Chancay Castle was located in the Near North (norte chico) of  Lima



In pre-Hispanic times Chancay culture developed in the valleys of Chancay and Huaura . The grave finds in the necropolis of Ancon and show an area Zepita influences reached the north channel Chillon Valley . This culture blossoms between 1300 and 1450 after which they become part of the Inca empire .
Chancay was founded by Luis Flores according to the instructions issued by the viceroy Diego López de Zúñiga y Velasco , Conde de Nieva , on November 16, 1562 , received the name of Villa de Arnedo in memory of the manor that he had in Spain .
